Do we put everything on hold for 90 days? Creating pages now means recreating them later, I hope facebook will roll this out fairly quickly.

Re: Top Tips for Staying Secure on Facebook

Thank you Keegan! Why Fresno is so strong is multi-fold. First this is a close knit city where, while large in population it is also small in attitude. Few cities of this size have the I know your brother, cousin, uncle factor that Fresno does. Today, I heard people ask me twenty times to vote for Fresno in this competition mainly from office workers and friends, if you add on-line requests that number doubles. Part of this comes from a comradery that Fresnan's feel towards their city. The city has been a brunt of jokes forever in movies and TV shows...but the locals still love it. I think Fresno is embracing this as...make fun all you want of us, our city is here for each other. We embrace each other and those in need and will do our best to help them.

Re: Is Outsourcing your Social Media Marketing a Good Idea?

Well, in my opinion, you can always just create a group page for people who likes a certain brand as yours. I'm curious to know what's driving the search traffic more... the news or word of mouth. I like the inclusion of a product life cycle curve and especially its application to social media. The fact that things do not grow exponentially upward is paramount to remember. Great post and I'm excited to see more Google Trend social media research coming from you.

Re: Personal Branding in a 2.5 world

Good post Peter. Google is one of the most well-known brands because it was a high quality product, simple, and people told their friends online, which spread viraly. Coca Cola has been around for a very long time, so they've slowly grown their brand.

Re: Fresno’s Growing Trend – Fan Pages

I’m happy the reminder led to the beautiful Clovis event Fan Page URLs! I still have my idea regarding Big Hat Days…

@PeterLang

Re: Fresno’s Growing Trend – Fan Pages

Thank you Peter for the clear and easy-to-understand explanation of how to get a nice URL for your fan page. And thank you for the reminder. I knew this could be done, but couldn't remember how. So now we have www.facebook.com/BigHatDays and www.facebook.com/ClovisFest

Not only does it look nice, but you can actually verbally tell someone how to find your Facebook page directly, instead of telling them to "do a search."

Thanks!

It seems most people starting out lack that kind of direction and would do the "trial by fire" method. Not good for businesses. Considering that Teens and Young adults are more advanced in social media and technology it can be difficult for parents and adult figures to protect them from the new dangers. It's important to be involved in the social media revolution not only for ourselves, but more for the guidance of our youth.

Re: Digital Abuse – What is it? & How do you prevent it?

Many people think there is a separation between their "real life" and their digital life. Sadly this is not the case and you showed why in this article. Parents teach kids to look both ways before crossing the street and not to talk to strangers but few parents teach kids safety rules regarding online behavior. Hopefully this provides a good first step for those that don't know. Well done!

Re: Job Hunting with or without a Personal Brand

Colleen - In order to anticipate this situation always Google yourself.
